Model import guide

Bring Blender and GLB models into Tesseract.

Bring .blend and .glb models into Tesseract without installing Blender. Prepare textures, inspect conversion warnings and compare a rendered preview.

Set up Tesseract by Mirage so you can create editable designs and 3D scenes, edit videos, and make motion graphics in this agent’s environment. Read https://github.com/mirage-hq/Tesseract and check the requirements for this local or hosted environment. If it is supported, follow the official plugin or skills installation guide, use its required runtime version, verify the download checksum, and confirm a short preview renders correctly. Then ask what I want to make and which brand references or source assets I have. Keep the editable project and source assets with the finished render.

A native GLB robot model turns under studio lighting. Its geometry, materials, hierarchy and animation clips are packaged in the editable project.

Give your agent this .tsrct file, then ask for a specific change.

Made in Tesseract

Inspect the imported model before animating it.

A simple turntable or a few fixed views make missing surfaces, textures and material differences easier to spot. Import diagnostics and a successful project check are useful, but the rendered model still needs comparison with the source.

Start from an existing asset.

Import binary glTF .glb or a supported Blender .blend file. Tesseract’s native converter can read the Blender file without launching Blender on the agent’s machine.

Inspect what transferred.

Read the conversion diagnostics and list the model’s hierarchy, materials, animation clips and morph targets. Resolve missing dependencies and visible differences before making creative revisions.

Keep source and edits organized.

Retain the original asset alongside the editable Tesseract project. Supported material extraction and controlled reimport can preserve useful edits when you provide an updated source.

The workflow

Build it with your agent.

Start with the brief and references. Review the composition and movement before the final render.

  1. Prepare the file and its textures.

Supply .glb or .blend. Pack textures into the Blender file when possible, or put them in its directory or subdirectories. External absolute, network or parent-directory texture paths are not accepted by the Blender importer.

  2. Import and read the diagnostics.

Ask the agent to report unsupported or approximated features. The Blender converter does not execute every modifier, procedural material, constraint, driver or add-on. Keep a source render for comparison.

  3. Compare stills and animation.

Check several angles using simple lighting. If the model includes animation, preview the clips and inspect joints, morphs, loops and transitions. A file that imports successfully can still differ visually.

  4. Make edits in the Tesseract project.

Adjust supported material inputs, node transforms, clip timing and scene lighting. Save the packaged project with its dependencies. If you reimport a changed asset, review the requested mappings and unresolved bindings.

A starting point

Give your agent
a concrete brief.

Install or update the official Tesseract skills, attach your references, and adapt this prompt. Ask the agent to check that its runtime includes the 3D tools it needs.

Copy and adapt this prompt

Import the attached [file.blend or file.glb] into an editable Tesseract project using the installed 3D skill. Preserve the original file. Report conversion warnings and missing dependencies, then list the usable hierarchy, materials, animation clips and morph targets. Do not silently replace important unsupported details. Render front, side and three-quarter views under simple lighting and compare them with my attached source render. Preview any animation I select and point out visible differences. After we approve the import, create [shot or intended edit]. Package the resulting .tsrct project with its required assets.

Review the result

Check the details
before the final export.

Start with missing or changed content.

Check that the expected parts, textures and clips exist. Compare materials and silhouette before adding a new lighting style that could make differences harder to see.

Check motion from the actual asset.

Inspect representative animation poses and the boundary between loops. Constraints, drivers and source animation semantics do not all transfer with exact fidelity.

Save both source and working project.

The original model remains useful for comparison and future conversion improvements. The packaged Tesseract project contains the supported editable result and the work added after import.

Example follow-up

Keep the imported geometry and camera. The source has a matte body and a separate glossy cap, but the preview gives both the same finish. Restore that distinction and show the same comparison views.

Useful details before you start.

Which 3D file formats can I import directly?

Import .glb and supported .blend files. Convert OBJ, FBX, USD, CAD assets or .gltf files with external buffers to a supported format first.

Do I need Blender on the agent’s computer?

No. Tesseract’s native .blend converter reads supported content without a Blender installation. This is partial format conversion, not running the full Blender application, its plugins or its render engine.

Will the imported scene look exactly like Blender?

Not necessarily. Some modifiers, shader inputs, constraints, drivers, animation behavior, lights and camera settings can be unsupported or approximated. Read the conversion diagnostics and compare rendered views. A feature available natively in Tesseract may still need to be rebuilt because its Blender representation did not transfer.

Why are some texture files missing?

A Blender file may reference images outside the package you supplied. Pack images into the .blend file, or keep unpacked images in the file’s directory or subdirectories. The importer refuses absolute, network and outside-directory paths, so a texture visible on your computer may not be available to the agent.

Can I send the edited project back to Blender?

This workflow imports supported models and preserves the resulting editable Tesseract project. It does not promise a lossless Blender round trip or general export to .blend, FBX or USD. Keep the original file and confirm any required interchange path separately.
